UPCYCLING WORKSHOP

Learn how to use the sewing machine by upcycling your own clothes in just 3 hours.

This Beginner Sewing Workshop in Berlin is a hands-on introduction to sewing and creative upcycling, designed for people with no sewing experience.

Change the way you see the clothes you own, but for whatever reason don't wear. You’ll learn foundational sewing techniques and how to apply them creatively to your clothes, with personal guidance from two designers.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 MATERIALS 

You bring your own projects to work on, and as we design together, I’ll teach you what works best, why, and where to get what you need.

 TOOLS 

The studio is fully equipped with all cutting and sewing tools, and a sewing machine for each participant (8 in total).

 GROUP

Each group has a maximum of 8 people, and 2 designers guiding each project. It's specially designed for those with no sewing experience at all.

WORKSHOP STRUCTURE

① DESIGN BRAINSTORMING

Everyone shows what pieces they brought, and we decide together the best option to work on.

 ③ LEARN THE MACHINE

Everyone gets their own machine, and learn how to thread it and use it to sew their project.

② PREAPARE THE PROJECT

Learn how to measure, mark, cut and pin your project, and also from everyone else's. 

④ SEW YOUR PROJECT

Sew your project and leave with your finished new garment, and the practical skills to apply it to others.

WHAT YOU BRING

Bring any clothes you're not wearing because of length, size or shape, but you like the material:

  • Shirts, tops, dresses, jumpsuits

  • Pants, skirts, shorts

  • Sweaters or light jackets

  • Light denim (thick won't sew in our machines)

  • Zippers, elastic, trims, broken jewellery (optional)

You don’t need to decide on a project in advance - we’ll figure it out together.

WHAT YOU LEARN

During the workshop, you’ll learn at least one core sewing technique, that we’ll use creatively to transform your piece:

  • How to use a sewing machine

  • Cropping & length adjustment

  • Hemming

  • Basic seams

  • Adjusting size and fit

  • Elastic waistband
