Class 2: Resizing Clothes

Understanding how garments are constructed and how to adjust them to your body. Skills: Taking body measurements Introduction to darts and clothing construction Edge finishing and zigzag Creative ways to make clothes smaller

Class 3: Elastic Techniques

Applying elastics to existing clothes to change their fit, shape or texture. Skills: Adding elastic waistbands Designing ruffles Shrinking garments with elastic Fixing loose elastics

Class 4: Making Tops Bigger

Learning how to make clothes bigger by adding panels to change the size or fit. Skills: Clothing construction with seams Taking measurements Patchwork design How different materials behave when cutting and sewing

Class 5: Making Pants Bigger

Expanding garments using panels and additional fabric. Skills: Understanding how pants are constructed Measuring the body + reference clothes Combining multiple garments Designing a patchwork bottom

Class 6: Upcycle into Bags

Designing a bag from scratch using material from existing garments. Skills: Sketching with measurements Pattern creation from existing piece Sewing lining Adding hardware: rivets, eyelets, rings

Class 7: Free Class+ Machine Maintenance

Open class for finishing projects, repeat practice of previous topics, or designing a new one applying the techniques learnt. How to do maintenance on the machine and use its accessories.

Class 8: Open Studio + Reflection

A final session to consolidate everything learned and finish projects. Students will: Finish ongoing projects Revisit techniques that need practice. Troubleshoot sewing challenges Receive certificate, reflect on the course, count garments saved from waste

These 8-week upcycling and sewing courses in Berlin, are designed for those who want to learn in depth all necessary skills to design and transform their own clothes.

The methods I will teach you were developed through 15 years of upcycling clothes and 7 years of teaching it.

LEVEL 1

BEGINNER COURSE

For those with some, or no sewing experience, who want to learn how to transform the clothes they already own.

You’ll learn the essential techniques of sewing, but applying them creatively to your own clothes.
