Starting your sewing and upcycling journey can feel overwhelming when you're unsure about the tools you need. I want to simplify this for you. Having the right tools makes all the difference. Here’s a basic sewing supplies list that covers all the essentials you need to build your sewing starter kit. Each item is linked to my German Amazon shop:
Sewing Machines

Singer Heavy Duty 4423 - €218
If you're serious about sewing and will be doing a lot of denim and thick materials, then definitely get this one. It's the one I use.
W6 1235/61 - €149
A great machine to start with if you're in Germany and looking to buy new. It also sews thick materials well when using the right needle and settings.
Singer M2405 - €120
The most basic machine out there, and cheapest. It's ok to start with small proejcts and see how you feel, but it won't sew thick materials.
Second Hand Ebay Kleinanzeigen - €50-€80
A budget-friendly option if you're willing to explore second-hand machines. The only risk is that it works properly, so you should try it before buying.
If you want to learn how to set up your machine, I created a free mini course where I guide you step by step: Join Free Course - Start Sewing.

Accessories for Your Machine
If you buy a second-hand sewing machine, it will likely come without accessories. Here's what usually comes in it:
I only use the ones for zippers, and occasionally invisible hem, but it's way cheaper to get the whole pack than one by one.
This basic sewing supplies list covers the tools for beginners that I recommend to start sewing. Having them will make your sewing and upcycling projects smoother. The right tools allow you to focus on creativity instead of frustration.
